KAMPALA, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Uganda on Thursday registered its FIFA ranking as the east African country was 65th in the world in the rankings released by the global football governing body on Thursday in Zurich, Switzerland.
Uganda also remained the best ranked nation in the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) region.
"We need to keep working hard and see that we get among the top 50," said Uganda' s national team coach, Milutin Sredojevic.
Uganda are also in the 14th place on the African continent while Algeria maintained their top position in Africa and 32 in the world.
Ghana improved by two places to 35th position, while African champions Cote d'Ivoire dropped to 36th place.
In the CECAFA region, Kenya are second after they dropped by two places to 88th, while Rwanda are 121st and Burundi 123rd together with Tanzania.
Argentina maintained top spot with 1,585 points, while Belgium are second. Colombia are in third place while European champions Portugal are placed sixth. China improved by three places to 78th.
