Vietnam's southern stock market ends up

HO CHI MINH CITY, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 629.46 points on Monday, up 2.07 points, or 0.33 percent, against last Friday's closing session.

About 90.026 million shares worth 1.548 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (70.93 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 118 stocks went up, 85 stocks fell down, while 83 stocks remained unchanged.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 614,65 points, down 0.41 points, or 0.07 percent.

A total of 38.359 million shares worth 875.71 trillion VND (40.10 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Monday.
