KABUL, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Some 15 Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel died during military operations against militants and separate attacks across Afghanistan within the last 24 hours, the country's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
The ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates that dozens of militants had been killed, 50 armed militants were wounded and 14 militants were captured during the joint military and cleanup operations conducted by joint Afghan security forces since early Tuesday.
The Afghan security forces' casualties have risen recently as they struggle against a surge in attacks by Taliban militant group and other anti-government fighters.
