SUVA, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Fiji and Samoa have reaffirmed their regional partnership on the back of a Pacific islands finance ministers' meeting, the Fijian government announced Wednesday.

Fijian Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met Samoan Minister for Finance Sili Epa Tuioti on the sidelines of the Pacific islands finance ministers' meeting earlier this week, where the two agreed to work together towards the goals in the joint outcome statement signed at the meeting, and decided to meet again to provide updates on each nation's progress, according to Fiji's Department of Information.

The meeting also covered the potential for greater collaboration among Pacific island countries to market the Pacific region as a tourism package to boost source markets.

"Pacific Island countries need to deepen our already strong ties and work together to speak with a louder voice on the global stage and to grow our economic prospects. We in the Pacific face many shared challenges, and it is incumbent on all of us to collaborate and develop regional solutions," Sayed-Khaiyum said.
