HANOI, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- About 30 countries and territories worldwide have registered to attend the fourth Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) slated for November 2016 in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

This is the highest number of foreign countries attending the event so far as previously the film festival only invited movie producers in the Asia-Pacific region, Vietnam's state-run news agency quoted the HANIFF's organizer as saying on Wednesday.

French director Regis Wargnier and actress Catherine Deneuve of "Indochine," which was filmed in Vietnam and won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, will attend the HANIFF 2016.

Being organized every two years, the 2016 event will be held under the theme "Cinema-Integration and Sustainable Development" on Nov. 1-5.
