HO CHI MINH CITY, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Vietnam International Motorshow 2016 will take place here from Oct. 26-30, with the participation of 17 well-known brands in the world, Vietnamese importers and distributors of foreign vehicles said Monday.

The expo will display cars, their components, spare parts and accessories and related services. A semiar on international and Vietnamese automobile industries will be held on Oct. 27.

Audi, Bentley, BMW, BMW Motorrad, Infiniti, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Nissan, Porsche, Renault, Rolls Royce, Subaru, Suzuki, UD Trucks, and Volkswagen will participate in the five-day event.

Vietnam spent nearly 3.4 billion U.S. dollars importing completely-built automobiles and components for assembly in the first seven months of this year, posting a year-on-year decline of 0.4 percent, said the country's General Statistics Office.

Specifically, Vietnam imported 62,000 completely-built automobiles worth 1.4 billion U.S. dollars from January to July, seeing year-on-year respective drops of 3.9 percent and 17.9 percent.
