ANKARA, July 25 (Xinhua) -- A roadside bomb placed by militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) killed three policemen on Monday in southeastern Turkey, Dogan News Agency reported.
The bomb was remotely detonated in Kiziltepe district of Mardin province when an armored police vehicle was passing by, according to the report.
Security forces sent reinforcement and an anti-PKK operation was launched in the area.
Over 500 members of Turkish security forces and thousands of PKK members have been killed in clashes inside Turkey and in northern Iraq since last July.
More than 40,000 people have lost their lives in clashes with the PKK since 1984, when the group first started anti-government attacks.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union and Turkey.
