BUENOS AIRES, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Former world soccer star Diego Armando Maradona and the Argentine television channel Telefe came to an agreement on Thursday regarding making a series about his life.

"Diego Maradona and Tomas Yankelevich, Telefe's contents director, met to conclude an alliance through which the channel will produce (a series) for the international market," said the television channel in a press release, adding that the series will be fictional.

The idea came about during the World Cup Mexico 1986 champion's holidays in Argentina before he returns to the United Arab Emirates, where he works as a sporting ambassador.

Maradona, 55, seemed enthusiastic about the initiative and told local newspaper Diario Popular that there is enough material from his life "to write 100 episodes."

"Everything that I have lived through goes beyond any work of fiction. I am happy and enthusiastic that Telefe will develop this project for the world. It is the story of my life," added Maradona, who coached Argentina's national side during the World Cup South Africa 2010.

The television series will add to the large amount of tributes to the Argentine number 10 all over the world.

Apart from several books, songs and films, Maradona also has his own church called "The Hand of God" and a monument in the city of Buenos Aires.

There is also a stadium named after him, where the Argentinos Juniors play and where Maradona first started as a soccer player in 1976.
