KATHMANDU, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The Nepalese government has decided to take actions against an Indian couple after they were found guilty of altering photographs of themselves on the summit of Mount Qomolangma, also known as Everest, a senior government official told Xinhua on Monday.
It has been confirmed thorough investigation that the Indian couple altered photographs of themselves on the summit of the Mount Qomolangma, and actions will be taken against them as per the existing laws, said Sudarshan Dhakal, chief of the Nepalese Department of Tourism.
The department had launched probe on the climbing of Indian couple Dinesh Rathod and his spouse Tarakeshwari on May 21.
The department had issued climber's certificates to the couple after they submitted a photograph of themselves on the Mount Qomolangma.
"Their climbing claim has turned false," Dhakal said adding that the government will form a committee for taking further actions against them.
Officials at the department told Xinhua that the couple would lose their climbing certificates and be banned from mountaineering in the Himalayan nation in future.
