ST ETIENNE, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Poland took a 1-0 lead over Switzerland at the halftime of their round of 16 match at the Euorpean Championship here on Saturday.
Poland's winger Jakub Blaszczykowski opened the scoring in the 39th minute after a clinical counter attack.
The former Dortmund player received a pass from Kamil Grosicki, took a touch and then slid it past Swiss keeper Yann Sommer.
The winners of the match will become the first team to book a berth in the quarterfinals.
