TOKYO, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated after the morning bell Thursday as April's machinery orders data coming in some way below par dented investor sentiment.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average relinquished 68.55 points, or 0.41 percent, from Wednesday to 16,762.37.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, declined down 5.33 points, or 0.39 percent, to 1,345.64.
Early notable decliners comprised banking, air transportation and insurance-connected stocks.
