|TOKYO, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar spurred trading, but a good showing on Wall Street overnight added support.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 55.27 points, or 0.33 percent, from Tuesday to 16,620.18.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 5.47 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,335.30.
Notable decliners comprise insurance, iron and steel, and financial-linked stocks.
