BEIJING, May 7 (ChinaMil) -- Obviously, there are some other motives behind the deliberate hype of the so-called "ADIZ in the South China Sea", said Hua Chunying, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, at a regular press conference on May 7, 2015.

According to a reporter's question, a Philippine naval official said in a testimony to the Philippine Parliament that China is trying to set up an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) in the South China Sea, and that a Philippine military aircraft has been warned of flying over Chinese-controlled islands.

What is China's comment on that? And will China set up an ADIZ in the South China Sea? the reporter asked.

Hua Chunying responded that China is entitled to set up ADIZs. A decision in this regard depends on whether the air safety is threatened and to what extent it is threatened. A whole range of factors should also be taken into account before establishing an ADIZ, Hua added.

The situation in the South China Sea is stable in general, and China enjoys a sound relationship with ASEAN countries. We are exploring to promote mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea, Hua said.

She pointed out that obviously, there are some other motives behind the deliberate hype of the so-called "ADIZ in the South China Sea".
