96 Series tanks
The 88C Series was the third generation of tank modeled after the 85-Ⅱ Series. The finalized model of the 88C was officially named the 96 Series.
The 96 Series tank had a square welded turret. The cannons were 125 mm smooth bore that can fire stable armor piercing bullets that can pierce the front armor of almost all the world’s serving tanks. To lengthen its attack range and anti-helicopter abilities, the 96 Series used a laser-guided cannon-bored missile system. The fire control system was similar to that of the 88B Series. The 96 Series can accurately hit targets 2,000 meters away, taking under six seconds to search, find, track, target and fire. The accuracy was highlighted in an international competition in Russia. The defense capability was also improved. The 96 Series tanks, with turbo diesel engines, can move at up to 57 km/h. The widely equipped 96 Series served as an important force together with the more advanced 99 Series.
