NEW DELHI, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- India on Friday test fired its home-made nuclear capable cruise missile, Nirbhay, from the Integrated Missile Test Range in the eastern state of Odisha, sources said.
"The sub-sonic cruise missile was test fired form the test range in Chandipur around 10 a.m. (local time) and only after one hour it will be known whether the test firing has been successful, " the sources said.
The state-of-the-art missile, developed by the state-owned Defense Research and Development Organization, has the capability of flying at tree-top level, making it undetectable on radar.
Nirbhay (meaning fearless) can hit targets more than 700 km away, carrying nuclear warheads.
The maiden test firing of this missile was not successful in March last year.
