ANKARA, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish military helicopter disappeared from radar in northwest Turkey on Sunday afternoon, local NTV news channel reported.
The Sikorsky helicopter took off from northwestern Izmit military airport and was flying to Konya airbase, Turkish military sources were quoted as saying.
Soon after the helicopter took off, it went missing from the military radar, the sources said, adding that search and rescue have been launched.
In early September, a Turkish F-16D fighter jet crashed when landing at an air base in Diyarbakir province of southeastern Turkey and two pilots jumped out of the plane.
