Vanuatu, China vow to strengthen military ties

    PORT VILLA, January 20 (ChinaMil) -- Prime Minister Moana Carcasses of the Republic of Vanuatu (ROV) met with Wang Guanzhong, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), currently visiting the country, on the morning of January 17, 2014 in Port Villa in Vanuatu.

    According to Carcasses, the development of China has set up a very good example for Vanuatu. Carcasses reiterated that the government of Vanuatu will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.

    Wang Guanzhong said that the Chinese side is very satisfied with the development of the China-Vanuatu relationship and is full of confidence in the development of the friendly cooperation between China and Vanuatu.

    Though the military relationship between China and Vanuatu has a late start, it progresses very successfully. The Chinese side attaches great importance to the relationship with the mobile force of the Vanuatu and is willing to make joint efforts with the Vanuatu side to further enhance exchange and cooperation between the two countries in military fields and make active contributions to the development of the overall relationship between the two countries.

    On the same day, Wang Guanzhong held a meeting with Joan Taleo, acting police commissioner of Vanuatu, and Jobu Aishao, commander of Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF) and had an in-depth discussion about the deepening of the cooperation between the Chinese military and the VMF.

    Xie Bohua, Chinese ambassador to the Republic of Vanuatu, was also present at the meeting.
