Chinese defense chief holds talks with Armenian counterpart

BEIJING, December 27 (ChinaMil) -- Chang Wanquan, state councilor and minister of national defense of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), held talks with Seyran Ohanyan, the visiting defense minister of the Republic of Armenia, on the afternoon of December 26, 2013 in Beijing.
Chang Wanquan said that both Chinese people and Armenian people enjoy a profound traditional friendship. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, the relations between the two countries have been developing smoothly, and the two countries’ cooperation in various fields have constantly borne new fruits.
He added that with the constant development of the relations between the two countries, the Chinese military and the Armenian military have been maintaining friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation.
Chang also stressed that the Chinese military pays attention to developing friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Armenian military and hopes that the two sides can expand new fields of exchanges based on the existing cooperation so as to add new contents to the development of the relations between the two militaries.
Ohanyan said that the Armenian side always takes the development of friendly partnership with the Chinese side as one of the priorities in its development of foreign relations. The Armenian side is satisfied with the development of the relations between the militaries of China and Armenia in recent years and is willing to continue to push forward the constant development of the cooperation between the two militaries in various fields.
Before the talks, Chang Wanquan held a welcome ceremony for Seyran Ohanyan and accompanied him to review the three-service guard of honor of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
