1939年10月24日，在晋察冀边区涞源县一个小庙设立的临时手术室里，白求恩在为八路军伤员做手术。1938年3月，加拿大医生诺尔曼.白求恩来到中国，经延安转赴晋察冀边区，任军区卫生顾问。1939年10月，白求恩因医治伤员不小心割破手指，患败血症，11月12日，逝世于河北完县。（吴印咸摄）

Canadian doctor Norman Bethune came to Chinaas military health consultant in Eighth Route Armyon March 1938.
