Meanwhile, media scrutiny is being relaxed to enable private media to publish news to an extent which was restricted previously.
As part of the relaxation, Myanmar lifted ban on some influential news websites as a gesture to show Myanmar's liberalization of its media policy.
These websites are those including Reuters, Bangkok Post, Singapore Straits Times and other regional newspapers as well as the Voice of America, British Broadcasting Corp and the exiled- operated Democratic Voice of Burma.
The reopening of these websites, which had been blocked since 2007, signified a major improvement in the media policy of the new government.
Over the period of the parliament session, Myanmar's central government was able to initiate peace agreements with two armed groups -- Wa Special Region-2, Mongla Special Region-4.
In the latest development, in November, Kaloh Htoo Baw armed group (former Democratic Kayin Buddhist Army-DKBA) in Kayin state has also signed an initial peace agreement with the peace-making group of the Kayin state government to pave way for talks with the central government.
