MEXICO, may 5 (Xinhua) -- A strong earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit Mexico city Thursday morning, according to the national sismologic service of Mexico.
The epicenter of the earthquake lies in Guerrero in southern Mexico, the service said.
It is immediately unknown whether the earthquake has caused any casualty or property damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey, monitored here, said the earthquake struck at 13:24:06 GMT.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.20 km, was initially determined to be at 16.8083 degrees north latitude and 98.5919 degrees west longitude.
