THE HAGUE, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The website of the Dutch bank Rabobank was target of a cyber attack on Monday morning, according to a statement of this bank.

Many of the customers can't make use of internet and mobile banking, due to a large amount of network traffic being sent to the website. This sort of attack is also referred to as a DDos attack. The Rabobank stresses that the privacy of customers is not in danger, but can't say how long the site is going to be out of use.

In February this year, the Dutch bank had to deal with another cyber attack, that was claimed by a group called Conspiracy Cells of Fire. This group holds the bank responsible for "the death of thousands of people, including children, by investing in the arms industry."

The CCF also claimed to plan actions against Shell, ING, ABN Amro and Randstad. It is still not certain if this same group is responsible for the attack of this morning.

The Rabobank has around 6.8 million private customers, with half of them using the internet banking service.
