TRIPOLI, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan rebel council said Tuesday the United States had appointed an envoy to the Benghazi- based Interim Transitional National Council, according to Al- Jazeera TV.
The rebel council, headed by former justice minister Mustafa Abdul Jalil, was set up on Feb. 17 and brought together a number of representatives from various parts of Libya who supported the unrest against Libya's leader Muammar Gaddafi.
