KIEV, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian Alushta Aquarium has got
its own octopus oracle who will predict the results of matches
during soccer Championship EURO 2012, Viktor Zhilenko, the director
of Alushta Aquarium told Xinhua on Monday.
"Octopus's name is Pavlik. The staff of aquarium will teach him
to see the future like German octopus Paul," Viktor Zhilenko
said.
Paul was the most famous star in South Africa World Cup 2010. He
tipped the outcome of all seven Germany's games and the
Spain-Netherlands final correctly. He made his forecast by opening
one of two boxes with a national flags. He died in October 2010 at
the age of two in the Oberhausen Sea Life Center where he
lived.
The name for the small Ukrainian octopus was not chosen at
random. Pavlik is the Slavic version of the name Paul. The octopus
is very unusual, the director of Alushta Aquarium told while
adding: "Pavlik weights only 300 grams, but he can raise aquarium
decorations, weighing 10 kilograms with a help of his
tentacles."
The Ukrainian octopus already has noticeable features of
predictor. He correctly guesses the tasks given him by aquarium
staff.
Pavlik came to Ukraine from Singapore. Now he has perfect
conditions in Alushta's zoo. He has a huge aquarium and fresh
muscles and crabs for breakfast every day.
Pavlik will get his first public examination as an oracle on
April 4 when Ukrainian soccer club Shakhtar Donetsk fight against
Barcelona in the Champions League. Octopus will guess the outcome
of the match. Enditem
