WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. House of Representatives blocked funding of President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare overhaul law by a vote of 239-187 on Friday.
The vote was part of the GOP bill to cut 61 billion dollars federal spending in fiscal year 2011 ending on Sept. 30.
Republicans say the health care overhaul, enacted last year, was an overstepping of power by Washington and would hurt the economy.
The House voted earlier this year to completely repeal the health program. But the Obama administration and Democratic lawmakers believe that it would harm U.S. families.
Analysts predict that the Democratic-led Senate will reject the Republican-led House's decision on this issue.
