GAZA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- A car explosion has killed a Palestinian and injured several others near a major compound of Hamas' police in Gaza City Wednesday, witnesses and medical sources said.
Adham Abu Selmia, a spokesman for the medical services, said that the blast has killed one and wounded three, adding that he has no information about the casualties' identities.
The witnesses said they heard the power blast sound and saw columns of smoke rising from the western gate of Arafat police academy. Hamas policemen and security forces were also seen running out of their stations after the blast.
The dead and one of the wounded were inside the Fiat car when it exploded, the witnesses said.
Hamas media said the blast might be a result of an Israeli military operation, but other sources said the explosion was "most probably internal."
