ISLAMABAD, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- At least 30 militants have surrendered to the Pakistani troops late Tuesday night in Bajaur tribal area in northwest Pakistan, official sources told Xinhua.

The militants who have laid down arms include three commanders identified as Malang, Shahjehan and Daud Jan, said Col. Amjad Iqbal, Pakistani troops commander of the area.

The militants have also handed over a huge cache of arms, an interesting development in the rugged tribal areas bordering Afghanistan where Taliban insurgents have taken refuge.
