UNITED NATIONS, July 29 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-general Ban Ki- moon on Thursday expressed concern over the recent clashes that occurred in the Kalma camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan's Darfur, his spokesperson said here in a statement.
"The secretary-general is concerned about the situation in Kalma camp between IDPs supporting the Darfur Peace Process in Doha and others," said the statement.
"The secretary-general calls on all concerned to address their differences through political dialogue and to refrain from any action that could incite violence," said the statement.
The statement said the AU-UN Joint Chief Mediator and the UN- African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) are "doing all they can to defuse the situation and facilitate reconciliation."
Clashes broke out last weekend in the Kalma camp, following the latest round of peace talks in Qatari capital Doha, which seek to bring an end to the Darfur conflict.
Tensions have been rising, with some residents in the camp saying they were not fully represented in the talks.
According to UNAMID, the situation in the Kalma camp is "calm but remains tense."
