In Pakistan there are Al-Qaeda-supporter groups but the organization itself has little role in militancy in the country, analysts maintained.
Some analysts believed that Al-Qaeda has weakened in the last 10 years, as its leadership was not able to launch attack inside the United States or hit its interest in the world.
Yousafzai said that the role of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan has become very limited as its leadership becomes weakened.
Doubting the importance of Yazid's death, defense analyst Brigadier Mehmood Shah told Xinhua that previously two or three leaders like Al-libi, who were reportedly arrested or killed, were also claimed Al-Qaeda No. 3 but the success against them never affected militancy in the region.
On the strength of Al-Qaeda in the region, Yousafzai said that about 100 members exist in Afghanistan and 200 or more in Pakistan. Shah fixed the number between 80 to 100 saying four groups exist inside Pakistan.
Finances are considered as important factor in strength of an organization and previously Al-Qaeda was allegedly providing money to local militants.
"Al-Qaeda has become financially weak and now they are facing problems due to some sanctions," Yousafzai said.
However, Shah disagreed with this saying local militants are continuing activities so it means funds are there.
