Qatar slams Israeli "piracy" on Gaza aid flotilla   2010-05-31 18:48:52 FeedbackPrintRSS

KUWAIT CITY, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Qatar on Monday condemned the attack by Israeli forces on an international Gaza aid flotilla that has killed up to 16 people, describing it as "an act of piracy," state-run QNA news agency reported.

Emir Sheikh Haman bin Khalifa Al Thani said during a speech to an economic forum in Doha the attack is an "Israeli act of piracy against Arab and foreign activists who tried to break an inhuman, unjust siege imposed on the citizens in Gaza Strip for no reason except that they exercised their democratic right of choice."

"The crimes committed this morning against civilians supporting the Palestinians remind us all of the unjust siege and the open bleeding wound in the enclave. All those who brag about freedom, justice, and democracy are required now to step up to break this siege so that the bloods shed by those free men do not go in vain.

"This is also a message addressed to the Arab states that were brought to the moment of truth by those free men," he added.
