BANGKOK, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The Thai government's Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) on Wednesday has banned the publishing of four pro-Thaksin prints, the Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.
The contents of the banned pro-Thaksin prints, namely Voice of Taksin, Truth Today, Thai Red News, and Wiwatha, negatively affected national security, the CRES explained.
Any violation against the CRES ban will face a two-year-jail term and 40,000-baht (1,229.24 U.S. dollars) penalty.
The Criminal Court on Tuesday approved arrest warrants against several anti-government major leaders, including ousted former Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra on terrorism charges, due to accused involvement in the recent violent movement, which culminated in the huge losses of lives and damage.
Thaksin was ousted by a military coup in September, 2006, in accusation of massive corruption, and kept in exile since then. Thaksin returned to Thailand in February, 2008 to face massive corruption charges, but he later fled into exile again and was convicted in absentia.
