SEOUL, May 10 (Xinhua) -- South Korean presidential office, Cheong Wa Dae, said Monday that it will add a cyber spokesperson to its public affairs department in order to enhance its communication with online users.

The new position, officially titled "Chief Online Communicator (COC)", will be placed under the office of senior secretary for public affairs at the Cheong Wa Dae, and it will mainly be responsible for managing Cheong Wa Dae's official website, blogs, and social networking services (SNS) while providing real-time updates on presidential affairs via the Internet, the presidential office said in a statement.

It added the COC will deliver the Web users' opinions and prime Internet issues directly to the president, and better-communicate the president's message and policies to South Koreans as well.

South Korea is one of the most wired countries in the world as a majority of the population use the Internet, and its smartphone users have also been on the rise with more than a million smartphone devices having been sold so far and approximately 2 million SNS users in the country as well.
