BAGHDAD, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A string of car bomb and roadside bomb explosions killed at least 32 people in Baghdad Friday, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
The most serious attack occurred close to Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's office in Sadr city, killing 21 people and wounding 45 others, said the source on condition of anonymity, adding that two cars loaded with explosives detonated near the site.
In another attack with both car bomb and roadside bomb blasts in eastern Baghdad, eight people were killed and 14 were injured, he said.
Meanwhile, on earlier Friday, a car bomb blast targeting a Shiite mosque in northern Baghdad killed three and wounded 14 others.
A moment later, a market close to the Justice Ministry was also attacked by a car bomb, causing three wounded. Xinhua reporters witnessed heavy smoke from the blast scene. Ambulances rushed to the site a few minutes after the explosion.
Shiite commemorations have often been targeted by various armed groups in Iraq. A string of bomb blasts in the past week have already caused dozens of casualties.
The situation in Iraq now is very sensitive since political blocs are battling each other for cabinet formation after the country's parliamentary elections held last month.
