MADRID, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Two freight trains collided in the central Avilla province in Spain early Friday, killing a driver on one of the trains, the European News Agency reported.

The collision took place when a freight train struck another cargo train which was waiting for stop signal to enter Arevalo station in northern Avilla, said a spokesman of the rail infrastructure administration.

The driver was killed on the spot, he said.

The rail links between Madrid and Paris was temporarily disrupted due to the accident and the cause was under investigation.
