Maliki leading in 60 pct of total votes in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Incumbent Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's bloc is leading in the 60 percent counted votes in Baghdad, the electoral commission said Monday.

According to the partial results from the electoral commission on Monday, Maliki's State of Law is leading with 518,530 votes, followed by the Iraqia List led by former prime minister Ayad Allawi with 453,028 votes, and the Iraqi National Alliance, led by Shiite religious parties, came third 323,975 votes.  Full story

Partial results show Maliki leading in Basra

BAGHDAD, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Incumbent Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's bloc is leading in the 84 percent counted votes of the total in Basra, the electoral commission said Monday.

According to the figures released by Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), Maliki's State of Law coalition won 341,667 votes followed by the Iraqi National Alliance (INA), led by Shiite religious parties, with 188,435 votes.  Full story

Iraq's Maliki leads in Muthanna province for election votes

BAGHDAD, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The State of Law bloc led by incumbent Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is leading the parliamentary elections in southern province of Muthanna, according to partial results from the electoral commission on Friday.

The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced that the State of Law bloc is in the lead with 14,981 votes in Muthanna, an Iraqi southern province which borders Saudi Arabia.  Full story

Former Iraqi PM challenges Maliki with strong performance in early election results

BAGHDAD, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The Iraqia List led by former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi was leading in the Diyala province and Salahuddin province in the counted votes for the elections, showing strong contest with incumbent Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki's bloc, the Iraqi electoral commission said Thursday.
