KABUL, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Afghan and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops have arrested three insurgents including a Taliban commander Mullah Janan Andewahl in the southern Uruzgan province, a statement of the alliance said Saturday.

"Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), with International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF) partners, captured three insurgents, including Mullah Janan Andewahl, a Taliban commander in Uruzgan province, on March 5," the statement added.

However, it didn't say the reason for keeping secret the arresting commander for the past one week.

Nevertheless, it added that Andewahl, in addition to having coordinated numerous roadside bombings, has coordinated mortar and rocket attacks against both local Afghans and coalition forces.

Taliban militants have not made any comment so far.
