CONCEPCION, Chile, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -– Firemen rescued on Sunday 26 people alive in Concepcion from the rubble of a collapsed building due to the 8.8-magnitude earthquake that shook the country on Saturday early morning.
The firemen said that they also rescued six bodies from the 14-floor building that collapsed, adding that between 60 and 80 people are still under the rubble of that building.
The firemen said that there could be more survivors due to the characteristics of the building.
On Saturday morning, Chile was hit by an earthquake of 8.8 magnitude on the Richter scale. A total of 708 people have been confirmed killed in the quake and the death toll is likely to rise.

Chile's int'l airport resumes operation after megaquake
SANTIAGO, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The international airport of Santiago starts resuming operation slowly and will completely go into full operation on Tuesday, the commander in chief of Chile's Air Force of Chile said.
General Ricardo Ortega said that one flight from Lima arrived at the airport on Sunday, but the arrival of the flight "does not mean that all flights will arrive regularly." Full story

CONCEPCION, Chile, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Complete demolishment of downtown Consepcion and fear for more aftershocks have driven the residents of the hardest-hit city to the open ground as the earthquake survivors here waited desperately for promised food.

Rescuers meet difficulty near epicenter Concepcion
