Afghan, NATO troops detain 3 suspected terrorists

KABUL, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Afghan and the NATO-led troops raided a Taliban hideout in Logar province 60 km south of capital city Kabul and arrested three suspected terrorists, spokesman for provincial administration Deen Mohammad Darvesh said Sunday.

"The troops conducted a joint but short operation in Mohammad Agha district Saturday night and detained three persons who have link with Taliban outfit," Darvesh told Xinhua.  Full story

Taliban commander killed in S. Afghanistan as massive operation goes on

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- A key Taliban commander was killed by joint forces in the massive NATO-Afghan operation to take the control of Taliban bastion in southern Afghanistan, spokesman for provincial administration Daud Ahmadi said Saturday.

"The joint forces during cleanup mission in Marja district (of Afghanistan's southern Helmand province) on Friday killed commander Mullah Amanullah," Ahmadi told Xinhua.Full story
