Pakistan says India spoiled one year by delaying talks
ISLAMABAD, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said Monday that India has wasted one year by halting dialogue with Pakistan, local TV channels reported.
Talking to the private SAMAA TV, the spokesman said it is still not clear what India wants, adding that there is no chance of Pakistani and Indian Prime Ministers' meeting in the near future. Full story
Pakistan accuses India of violating ceasefire
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Indian troops have resorted to unprovoked firing in the disputed Kashmir region but there was no casualty, Pakistan army said on Monday.
An army statement said that Indian troops fired in Battal Sector on the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Pakistan and India in the disputed Kashmir region, on the night of Feb. 13-14, 2010. Full story
Pakistan: India's olive branch a good step but should be candid
ISLAMABAD, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- India's olive branch for holding talks is a major breakthrough in Pakistan-India relations in two years but Pakistan wants negotiations without conditions over all outstanding issues, said Pakistani officials and analysts.
Pakistani Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit said Thursday that the secretary-level talks will lead the two sides towards composite dialogue but Pakistan wants it to be resumed immediately. He said the date for secretary-level talks would be finalized soon. Full story
Gates: Pakistan, India, Afghanistan must defeat terrorists
ISLAMABAD, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday that Pakistan, India and Afghanistan have a huge stake to defeat the terrorists and extremists for stabilization in the region.
