GAZA, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- An official from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Thursday urged Hamas to change its conditions for exchanging prisoners with Israel.
Kayed al-Ghoul, a member of the PFLP politburo, said Hamas, which holds a captive Israeli soldier in Gaza, "has to break the Israeli limits regarding the swap."
"Israel is putting limitations on the issue and Hamas can break these limits by insisting on releasing all strugglers who Israel wants to keep them in prison," al-Ghoul told Xinhua.
In 2006, Hamas captured the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in a cross-border raid near the Gaza Strip. It wants to swap him for hundreds of Arab and Palestinian prisoners.
Israel has reservations on freeing some Palestinians involved in killing Israelis.
A German mediator between Israel and Hamas is set to resume his efforts to broker a deal on exchanging the prisoners, according to Israel's Channel 2 television.
