RAMALLAH, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian young men and Israeli police clashed on Monday in the Palestinian refuge camp of Sho'fat, east of Jerusalem, during which dozens of Palestinians including journalist were injured.

Witnesses as well as local sources said that dozens of Palestinian youths and three journalists were lightly and moderately injured, including a cameraman, a photographer and a local news reporter.

The clashes erupted when Israeli police forces stormed the entrance of the refugee camp and detained dozens of young men, according to the witnesses. The residents threw stones and empty bottles at the police.

"The police forces fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters to disperse the demonstrators," said one of the residents.

The refugee camp of Sho'fat houses 25,000 residents, most of them refugees, who were expelled from the old city of Jerusalem several years ago.

The Israeli army carries out daily raids on Palestinian towns, villages and refugee camps, saying they are wanted by Israeli security services.
