SANAA, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni military forces have killed at least 11 Shiite rebels and wounded others in clashes across the northern province of Saada, a military-run website reported Saturday.
According to the report, the army troops killed five insurgents when they attempted to sneak into some sites in al-Maqash and al- Aqab in Saada province.
The five killed rebels were identified as Abdul Qadir Hussain al-Hassawi, Fadil al-Woubashi, Sahir Masoud Masfouh, Nabil Mohamed al-Ruwaishid and Hussain Muhsain Mahdi Sharif.
The report also said another six rebels were killed and unknown others wounded when the troops of the armed forces repelled an infiltration attempt by those rebels into Daris hill, in Saada.
The Houthi elements shelled with mortar in the house of Sheikh Othmnan Majly in Saada, causing the death of five citizens.
A rebel identified as Ahmed Mohammed and believed to be responsible for providing weapons and equipment to the rebels has been captured in Saada and he is now under interrogation, the report quoted military sources as saying.
On Friday, the Houthi Shiite rebels claimed they have killed eight Yemeni soldiers including an Air Force officer in clashes in Saada.
