BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhuanet) -- China has responded to US criticism about its human rights record , by publishing a report about the United States's own record.

The Information Office of China's State Council released the 2010 report, in response to the US State Department's "Country Reports on Human Rights Practices" issued on Friday.

The Chinese report says the American one is full of distortions and accusations about the human rights record in more than 190 countries, but turns a blind eye to its own human rights situation.

It says the United States uses human rights as -quote- "a political instrument to defame other nations' image for its own strategic interests." While illustrating the US's dismal record, China's report stresses that the United States is not justified in posing as a judge of global human rights.

The report advises the U.S. government to take concrete actions to improve its own human rights conditions, and stop using such issues to interfere in other countries' internal affairs."
