BEIJING, March 23 (Xinhuanet) -- The supreme leader of Iran has condemned Western military intervention in Libya. In a televised speech to mark the Iranian new year, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said he opposes any western interference in regional affairs and accused the US of seeking a strategic foothold in Libya.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iranian Leader, said, "We 100 percent condemn the way the Libyan government has treated its people; the murder of its people. We also condemn 100 percent the entrance of the Americans and the interference of the US and the West. They claim to enter Libya to defend its people, while they are carrying out military actions in Libya. This is not acceptable at all. They are after oil in Libya."
