BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, , has criticized Japanese Foreign Minister, Seiji Maehara, for his comments on Beijing's earlier reaction to the Diaoyu Islands dispute.
Ma says China is shocked that a country's Foreign Minister could make such remarks. He added it was in the common interest of both countries to improve and develop Sino-Japanese relations.
However the seriousness of the Japanese minister's remarks obviously work in the opposite direction. Ma's comments came after Maehara said in Parliament on Monday that China's countermeasures in the Diaoyu disputes were "hysterical."
A series of conflicts have followed Japan's illegal detention of a Chinese trawler captain near the sensitive territory. Japan has threatened to release its video footage of the collision between a Chinese fishing boat and Japanese Coast guard vessel.
