BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- A cloud of harmful smog is covering Moscow, raising airborne pollutants to four times the normal level.
Officials say the smog, which has plunged the Kremlin and other famous landmarks into a dull haze, is the capital's worst since 2002. Health officials have urged Muscovites to stay indoors if possible, or to don face masks if venturing outside.
The smog is adding further discomfort to residents, who have been sizzling in record high temperatures recently.
Daily temperatures have hit around 35 degrees Celsius for two weeks. Digital thermometers in the city center, indicated a high of 38 degrees on Wednesday.
