UK seals trainer jet deal with India

 BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- India has signed a 1.1 billion U.S. dollar deal with Britain to procure 57 Hawk trainer jet planes from BAE Systems. The planes will be used to equip the Indian Air Force and Navy.

Officials from India's Hindustan Aeronautics and the British company signed the agreement in Bangalore,southern India, as British prime minister David Cameron visits the country.

In addition to the deal, London has also agreed to allow the export of civilian, nuclear technology to India for the first time. Cameron is leading a huge British delegation, which includes six Cabinet ministers and 50 business leaders.

Cameron has called for a closer relationship between India and Britain, saying it would provide a spark for both economies. He has made it clear his main mission is to harness business opportunities offered by the blossoming Indian economy.
