BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Spring Airlines has launched a new flight service between Shanghai and Ibaraki, northeast of Tokyo. It's the first international flight operated by a private Chinese carrier.
Spring Airlines will run the flights three times a week, and plans to switch to regularly scheduled flights as soon as October. Tickets are fully booked through mid-August.
The Shanghai-Ibaraki flight is currently targeted at tour groups, but Spring Airline plans to sell 10 to 20 percent of tickets to individual customers. The discount airline now operates flights between more than 50 Chinese cities.
