BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The Jialingjiang River's third flood peak this summer has passed through Chaotianmen wharf in Chongqing municipality. Some locals were affected, but thankfully, it wasn't as bad as expected.
Early warnings can be seen along the wharf to keep locals off the water.
The impact of this flood peak was relatively small compared to previous ones.
Policeman, Chaotianmen Wharf, said, "The flood is not as heavy as the one on July 19th. Houses were submerged during that flood, while today's water level is 3 or 4 meters lower."
The flood began early Wednesday morning. Early warnings were announced and more than 400 families living along the river were evacuated. Ships in the area were also prepared for the emergency.
Wu Dongtao, Chongqing Maritime of Official, said, "We have stopped all the ships from sailing in the area to avoid any accident."
The flood peak of the mainstream of Yangtze River has also passed through Chongqing Municipality.
Local authorities have traffic control in place on the road and on the water for ships in Chaotianmen wharf.
