BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Costume clad performers welcome guests with indigenous songs and dances. They display their cultural distinctiveness with unique moves, backed by enthusiastic drum beats.
The Pavilion of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is located in the Zone C of Expo Park. It shows how the Congolese people keep their traditions alive while embracing a modern lifestyle.
The pavilion features various exhibitions focusing on history, culture, economy, natural resources, art and interaction. Visitors are offered an up-close view of the country's symbolic monuments, geographic scenery, and abundant wildlife through text and images, helping them to envision the bright future of Congo.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is located in Central Africa, with an estimated population of more than 62 million people. It is the third largest country in Africa by area.
The nation is rich in natural resources. The Virunga National Park, in the eastern part of the country, was established in 1925 and was Africa's first national park. The park is famous for its well-preserved diversity of wildlife, especially mountain gorillas, which are extremely rare and listed as one of the most critically endangered species on earth.
Although the park has endured political upheavals, the remaining population of wild animals were secured thanks to successful conservation work.
